Comments: A fun romp though Cerberus south fork. R1 was potentially needing replacement, but other anchors were deemed sufficient or replaced. Being diligent about optimizing pull for some anchors is critical towards having a great time. Standard DV faire, with the caveat of the shuttle greatly making the canyon a lovely stroll with the downside of setting up an early shuttle. 10:23 c2c but the back 6 rappels we were getting more chatty Cathy. Lengths might be a bit off (may need to be closer to 120’ vs 100’ on one of the ones in the last 6 for example).

A 6am start also contributed to a lot of wind so if you’re going be aware you’ll potentially be dealing with wind, shade, and sun on this canyon (along with some amazing drops!)

Comment: We had a great time going through this canyon. We seemed to get lucky and descend this canyon after a few parties. The anchors were all in great condition and we ran through it at a nice pace.

Comment: Due to rain for the previous two days, water was flowing through the entire canyon, sometimes the water would be about a foot across and a centimeter deep. There was enough water to get our clothes and ropes wet on rappel. Many of the road/wash crossings around the park were at the point of requiring a high clearance vehicle. We experienced clouds or fog 7am-noon. Some anchors were new. Many required rebuilding. Be vigilant about UV-damanged webbing.

R21: Has a direct anchor off two pitons with about 230ft to the ground). A pinch point was added to the anchor mess. You can decide if you like it or not. We chose to include the extra pinch point as a backup to the questionable pitons.

We rebuilt and or changed webbing for many anchors in the second half of the canyon.
