Comments: We descended this canyon on 2/13/16 along with Pit of Despair on the same day. Our entire team of 5 preferred this canyon slightly over P.O.D. It is an exceptional jaunt with very vertical rappels falling in quick succession from the drop-in. We added a rappel where blue gnome described a down climb making the trip 7 rappels instead of 6.

Comment: All anchors were replaced. None of the old anchors had been washed away. A notable amount of vegetation for death valley.

Comment: We ran this canyon after an early morning trip through Pit of Despair. We used a 335 and 200 rope and were able to combine several rappels into a long one for a good pull. There were little puddles of water in the top, so it must have rained. We hauled out a ton of old webbing, many cairns had 3 strands of various colors and age. One anchor is very long, and has just a little knot chick, which must be kept to the dcr side or it could fail. It could be backed up with three rocks in the pothole if someone wants. As usual, everything should have a meat backup till the last person.

Comment: Cliffs of Insanity offered spectacular scenery with some mild challenges. Our trip took longer than anticipated due to some necessary problem solving (i.e. ascending to retrieve a rope due to LAMAR not rerigging) and a relaxed pace. There was a bit of water in some of the potholes, but not enough to make a difference in escape - the entire team was able to traverse the keeper pothole without issue. It appears as though we immediately followed a talented team as all anchors were very recently rerigged and very stable (thanks, whoever you are!). The last rappel is listed as 250' in the beta, but a cairn anchor has been added at a ledge about 70' below, making the longest mandatory drop about 200'.

Comment: Due to a core shot on our 300' rope some managements of rope issues were mitigated with more advanced techniques and teamwork.

Comment: Fantastic canyon with incredible views and a wonderful approach route. This canyon rivals Inconceivable in intensity I think. We replaced most of the anchors including the dual knot choke anchor at the keeper pothole rappel with black webbing. The down climb preceeding the keeper pothole rappel is a tricky one. When we inspected the current anchor at the keeper pothole rappel the backup webbing just fell out of its perch with just a little tug. We replaced it using a larger knot and jamming it further into the hole. As webbing ages, I think it becomes brittle and the effectiveness of the knot is diminished. It is possible to rappel past the keeper Pothole on the 200 foot + rappel. Good sticky shoes and a little bit of nimbleness is all that is required. All of our party stayed to the left with a little effort. Having walkie-talkies really helps with rope management when it comes to test pulls and setting up the rope pulls.
