Comments: Fir was super fun and probably the best creek from the weekend. Too bad its so short. We paired it with Rock and had a fun day! I updated the shortcut exit. It only took 20 mins to climb out to the road.

Comment: Great day in Fir! The cave sequence with the hanging pothole is beautiful. No notable challenges. All anchors in good condition. We bushwhacked and made it from the last rappel to our cars in 49 mins.

Comment: Fir Creek just as pretty as always. All anchors in good condition. Flow was high enough that some of the hanging potholes were obscured from view, increasing the hazard of stepping/falling into them by mistake. The water was quite pushy at the top of the final rappel. Took the longer approach up Vance Creek for the first time and preferred it over the "shortcut" exit with the thorny bushwhack.

Comment: Fun canyon with some really scenic rappels. A landslide has occurred at the base of the last rappel, which may provide a new exit, did not explore too far as there are also ground wasps making their home in the dirt. Definitely bring a change of clothes for the hike out if taking the long route.

Comment: Another great little canyon in the Skykomish River Valley. Hangers on R2 are loose, but the bolts seem sound. We hiked out via the Vance Creek route. Vance is low this time of year and hiking along the gravel bars (crisscrossing from side to side occasionally) and taking the road out is far more pleasant than the bushwhack route we did last time.

Comment: A fun little canyon! The zigzag chute sequence is terrific. Parked at the gate (being careful not to block it). Flow was relatively low, but still fun. To exit, we thrashed up the nose of the ridge right where Fir drops into Vance Creek. It worked, but was a dirty mess. Will look for a better route next time. On the way back, we realized that our parking location had the unintended consequence of luring multiple groups of hikers down the road past the gate. They were looking for the Vance Creek Bridge trailhead and, on seeing our parked cars, assumed we were parked at the trailhead. Ooops.
