Comment: Low flow, wetsuits were probably a bit redundant. Rain jackets alone would probably have been OK (but neoprene socks would have been nice :) ).

Comment: Lower oak. Waterflow was deemed "sporty minus" by a local. Small rocks were picked up by the flow and can hurt on the big rap. Shoes were very grippy on the rock.

Comment: First family run through a true "Wet Canyon" unguided. I've got 30+ years rock climbing experience with some dry canyon, large group trials as well and ran Portland guided in the past. Water level appeared "low" but the adventure for the kids (12/15) was still excellent and a great learning experience with low hazards. We likely down climbed several of the short raps indicated in the new Topo using group assisted techniques. Felt the most challenging rap was the one going behind the log - it gets TIGHT for larger bodies, esp if pack management is poor (learning point). For the big rap we opted for the lower anchors using a hand line rigged off the high anchor (use care climbing up to it as it's a bit exposed). From the lower anchor it was straight forward and dry nearly to the bottom. I question the indicated rap length for R3 listed as 125'. I had a 70m SickLine and pull cord (which we used) but as last person down, it LOOKED really close to a simple 35m 115' rap. I'd be curious to have this checked... Otherwise, really fun day. Probably didn't need full 5mm as I kept my top unzipped most of the time and only put the hood up on two raps. Air temp was upper 70s. We started around noon so did NOT have direct sun for the most part. Earlier in day, I suspect more sun sneaks in.

Comment: Time reflects a descent of Middle and Lower Oak Creek. Great waterflow. Everyone wore at least 4/3mm of neoprene plus jackets and was comfortable. Lots of logs / flood debris to negotiate. Very slippery watercourse.

Comment: Decent canyon, a few neat features, alot of okay raps, a couple good raps and 1 super enjoyable big rap!

We did Middle and Lower. There were at least 4 other groups in the canyon making progress slow and bottle necking.

Coming from Corbett and Cascade the 2 days prior, I wasn’t overly impressed with this canyon’s features. Rock was very slippery, lots of creek walking between raps, lots of log jams and debris to maneuver around. Scenery was decent but I wasn't floored at any point...

The highlight of this canyon for me was the 135’ rap in the lower section. This rap was absolutely fantastic and a total pounder in this flow!

Overall, it was a good day out but there are others I would rather repeat in the area.

Comment: Great canyon. skipped at least one rappel. One member of our team was pummeled in the crotch on one of the larger rappels. An athletic cup is reccoemended for this route.

Comment: Middle and Lower oak creek canyon. Parked at the upper "4WD" trailhead. Took our group of four 7 hours car-to-car moving at a moderate pace. Was comfortable in a 5mm wetsuit though others in the group wore thinner neoprene. All anchors intact and looked/felt solid. Lots of bolted rappels. No problems with any pulls. A bit higher flow than Corbett which was done the following day. Wear your stickiest rubber as this canyon is as slick as it is beautiful...
