Comments: We did only the first two rappels of this canyon, but found them excellent! We found this a great place to introduce beginners to rappelling in the watercourse and have a beach day.

The first obstacle is described as a jump, but we rappelled (anchored from a tree 50' back from the drop). This would be a quite technical jump from a somewhat slippery ledge if you choose to do it. The obstacle described in the beta as R1 is anchored from two bolts DCR, which you can traverse to with a handline to avoid a weak pour over. R1 is 170-180', mostly through significant water flow - true Class C conditions.

Trail back up is quick and easy, so we lapped several times and enjoyed playing around in the pools. Air temps over 100F led us to be very happy with no wetsuits. Several tourists were enjoying the water with us both above and below R1/R2.

Comment: After reading through the beta, we didn't really want to go through the private property slog so we cut the second half of the trip altogether after R1. It was also 99F+ outside and we didn't want to be getting in and out of gear.

Water was chilly, but only one member of our group wore a full wetsuit.

The first part of Peppermint, described as the jumpable pothole, had shallow water and nearby people indicated they were jumping off of the 10ft area and hitting bottom. We opted to set up a rappel here (picture attached) from the tree above the pothole and all of our group rappelled down, minus the first person who down-climbed to check depth.

Big rappel down Peppermint Falls was great! The specified anchor tree looked questionable on its own as an anchor, so we set up an additional anchor on boulder above the tree. Rappel down could be done dry or in the water, depending on preference. Very slippery and mossy on entire rappel if in wet sections, even in canyon shoes. Pothole in upper falls can be easily bypassed.

Anyone at anchor point cannot see down the length of rappel, so pretty much everyone who went on this had their own unique "discovery" experience on rappel which was an added bonus.

Comment: The rappels are fun, and R4/R5 is awesome, but the approach and exit around the private property is a bit of a pain. Not hugging right against the fence has less brush issues. We exited following fairly close to the creek itself LDC which worked well with mostly big slabs of rock and minimum bush whacking.

Comment: Scouted first (upper) rappel, decided not to do canyon due to group experience level. Should be okay for experienced group. Will edit this with pictures once I sort them out.

Comment: Relatively low flow, but still enough to make the first and last rappels interesting. Private property owners in the north cabin seemed to be watching our group carefully. Private property owners in south cabins drove by our group a few times on the road at the edge of their property, but waved back when we waved.
