Comments: Really fun Canyon. We are beginners, and a little hesitant to try Death Valley canyons because we were cautioned by more experienced canyoneers that DV canyons require a lot of skill with anchor building and route finding. We were fortunate that some more experienced canyoneers were in the area to do a more advanced canyon and offered to run Rainbow with us. We were very happy they went through with us, but we could definitely have done this Canyon on our own. There were anchors in excellent condition at all 3 raps. The first was a rock anchor, the second bolted, and the third was a cairn anchor. New webbing and rapides at all 3. The exit was a little strenuous, but straight-forward and not that long. Definitely a great, quick Canyon anyone from beginner to experienced could enjoy!

Comment: The giant pothole at the bottom of R2 is completely filled with gravel and rocks. It's gone! Amazing!

Comment: We took our time introducing new folks to the sport. Very good intro canyon with cool geology. Lots of loose rocks on the exit scramble.

Comment: There is a very large dry pot hole at the end. You can skirt around the edge carefully. The exit has some loose rock that you should also be careful about. Fun easy exit day canyon.

Comment: First anchor was different than in 2019. A slung chockstone instead of the slung boulder previously. Last rappel we fiddlesticked so bring webbing and quick link for the rappel. We found the old anchor material at the bottom of the last rappel. Likely washed over in historic rain event. Hike out was harder than I remembered.

Comment: Nice canyon. We replaced some of the webbing which was trash. Please be careful about the keeper pothole. If you go into the pothole, you need pothole escape gear to get out. Otherwise, there is a pretty exposed traverse canyon right. Not for beginners or those for without climbing skills, at least one person needs to be able to cross it and set up a handline for the others.

Comment: Quick, fun canyon. All the anchors looked very fresh including the bolts on R2. Previous TR is very correct, avoid the keeper pot at the bottom of R2, it's a biggun. R3 anchor is 2 separate cairns equalized to a piece of rope. Exit was more work than anticipated, a bit steep and very loose. A Navy rescue heli flew into the canyon as I was looking for the exit. Loud.

Comment: Keeper pot is pretty deep, don't go in there. Kairn anchor tested well with 220 lbs

Comment: Giant rap rings on most raps. We fiddlesticked off them as to not spend a rapide. Rap 2 has a sketch bolt in some cracked rock.

Pretty good for a short day!
