Comments: Great little canyon. Super fun with some unique features. We didn’t do any jumps. Jumping seems doable in certain spots, but there are quite a few shallow areas at the current water levels. My only complaint about the canyon is that I wish it was longer. We didn’t see the sign in the beta and ended up walking a little too far on the exit, but were still able to find a relatively straightforward path out. You could easily run this twice or combine with another nearby canyon. Anchors and webbing were all in good shape.

Comment: Rock creek was in fun mode, although a new log obstacle has appeared at R3 (R2 if you jump/downclimb the optional R1 which I’d recommend at this flow). I was able to push aside the one log primarily impeding the rappel, but the other one still presents a strainer hazard. The DCL option for the final rappel is in extra spicy mode, opted for the mosquito pool rappel option which is lovely this time of year.

Comment: Good shoulder-season day in Rock Creek. Canyon features themselves were really fun and water was chilly for those wearing 4/3, but comfy for 5/4.

Unfortunate amount of trash along DCR past the overturned car where someone is dumping trash over the side of the road. It makes it down to the water which is gross. Had I known the in-canyon trash situation I would have taken a big pack and three trash bags to triple bag the gross-ness out of the canyon so people don’t have to see it- it detracts from the experience in a big way. If some canyon angel does clean up, bring nitrile gloves and work gloves for your protection.

The exit had a lot of blown down trees- someone has been cutting the blowdown which is great, but there were three cans of half-used motor oil (prob for the saw) laying sideways next to the stream and associated trash. C’mon man. I don’t know if it was part of our community or not- we removed it. If you’re going to the effort to hike in a saw, hike out the accessories too.

Comment: I wish I would have read the condition report about the trash. We should have brought trash bags. Fun creek, protect your rope on the edge of the bridge. The water was surprising strong on the chute of R5 till it hits the end where it makes the rooster tail. We rigged it and ran it all in one shot. Fun rap!

Comment: There’s more trash in this canyon than any other one I’ve seen in Washington. It seems folks just dump their litter into the creek from the roadside. 😭 Next time I’ll bring an extra dry bag/trash bag. All anchors are in good condition. Exit trail is coming in quite nicely, we could follow the social trail all the way from the creek to the road.

Comment: A great day in Rock Creek on a hot day. Moderate water flow. Not much has changed from 2023. Some pools still on the shallower side with some gravel fill-in. Be aware the lip at the edge of the pool on R3. A teammate hit their knee coming off rope into this pool and required a few stitches but was ok.

Comment: Great early season day out. Wasn't sure if the route was going to be low enough to be runnable but it was! A lot of features look scary but they were easy to avoid or go through.

Comment: Took mosquito pool route, pothole escape is easy-moderate difficulty using climbing. Messed around with some pack toss for a few minutes, poor geometry and or not enough weight (only used one bag). Exit is punchy

Comment: Bit depressing to find the parking area full of trash left by previous slobs with no respect for the environment. We picked up a little, but the next team should please bring a garbage bag; hopefully we can all do a little to help keep the area clean. (Our team elected not to experiment by ingesting random drugs found on the ground in the parking area.) Canyon itself was in fine form & fun as always. Couple bolts could use tightening, but all anchors in good shape. Very slippery!

Comment: Scenic and fun canyon! Waterflow was a good level for beginners. Jumps were rather shallow as pools had filled with more gravel compared to prior years (according to those who had been there before). Exit is a bit of a thrash (Grade 1, BW2 on the Cascade Brush and Bushwhack Rating System), but it's not too long. Although you suit up at the parking, some might prefer to pack a thin long-sleeve shirt for the exit (instead of wearing the wetsuit top).

Comment: A great day out with a group of 7 for the 4th of July weekend! Water running at moderate flow.

Added a single bolt DCL after R3 to avoid having to make the shallow jump, use human anchors in the limited space after R3, or having to do R3 in two stages (which leads to an entanglement hazard in the pool).

The "Mosquito Pool" pothole is becoming stagnant and the water level is dropping to keeper levels. Recommend taking the multipitch route DCL into the final pool.

Comment: Found the canyon flowing moderate and had a great time. All the jumps looked to be clear of debris/obstacles, all the anchors were in good condition, although we did not check the webbing on the DCR option for the last rappel into the mosquito pool or the anchors for the semi-hanging rebelay since we opted to make the DCL rappel in a single shot. Pull was very clean on this and didn’t have any trouble with the rope. The bolt on R3 is solid, but the hanger is a little loose and someone might want to snug it up with a wrench next time through. There was quite a bit of trash in the canyon from people treating it like a dump and might be a good idea to put together a team/group to do a clean up some time. Water is very cold.

Comment: Great day at Rock creek. Anchors were in good condition. Water was pretty cold, so take enough neoprene. All jumps went. The exit was pretty bushwhacky, thankfully short lived.

Comment: Terrific half-day canyon in the Skykomish River Valley. Spent some time playing and jumping into the pools. Single bolt at R3 is not well placed for ease of getting on rappel; would be nice to improve the anchor situation on this one. Rappelled down the wet side of R4 to the rebelay for an exquisite final rappel. Hats off to the installation team. Route out is not entirely obvious; I should have brought some marking tape. Would be good to standardize an exit route to combat erosion.

Comment: Great day in the canyon- the water is clear and refreshing. The 110’ rap looks saucy from the top, but it can be negotiated on the right, or take the pothole route. All anchors were in decent condition. Taking time to set rope length is still a good idea as the pools are still fairly deep.

The flipped car is still there. Bring a trash bag to help keep the turnout at the parking area clean. We dispersed an improvised fire ring that presented a hazard to people trying to use the turnout.
