Comments: Made it to the trailhead with a Toyota Corolla and some careful driving! The road is 4 wheel recommended (luckily not required on the day we were there)

We first went off the Silver Falls rappel on down-canyon right all the way to the bottom of the second stage using a 220ft rope. It was a super fun line to rappel (watch the rope abrasion) but we had an issue with the rope pull. We had one person hike back up and they were able to go straight down the hill directly to waterfall anchor. They rappelled again using the standard down canyon left line and the pull went fine.

Comment: 1.5 hrs car to car. We hiked up on the right side of the falls and downclimbed up stream to access the creek.

We replaced the 5/8 webbing with one inch, and did one rappel from pine rdc. Deployed rope LDC out of main flow and over hang. Less exciting but keeps rope in a good line for retrieval. If I were to repeat, I would rig releasable and set the rappel line RDC, and the pull side LDC. Yellow monkey flowers at the base of the rappel added to the beauty. A good warmup up, after driving 7 hours from Sedona, AZ. The view from the anchor was worth the effort to get there. Flow was low, no wetsuits.

Comment: Under current road conditions, a passenger vehicle would not make it to the Silver Falls TH. Multiple creek crossings and a couple muddy sections. Even dry, I would not recommend taking a passenger vehicle down this road.

Waterflow was high. Rather than cross the creek and anchor from the large tree RDC (which would put you directly in the flow), I ghosted off a couple trees LDC to access a small tree at the lip of the falls and rappelled alongside the flow. From this tree, the distance to the base of the falls was approximately 120’.
