Comments: For the first obstacle we jumped in right where the waterfall hits the water and found it to be deep enough. The second obstacle is easily jumped from the Middle where the water splits and the pool is very deep. The first real repel is from a log on Canyon left. We jumped the 20 ft waterfall and hit the bottom but it wasn't too bad if you hit it at The Sweet Spot just right of where the waterfall pours into the pool. The Cauldron has a sketchy down climb and shallow pool. CFS was 40 and very manageable no real hydraulics

Comment: 1h total for the middle section then hopped up on the road and dropped down into the lower section (3h for both sections). Super slippery rock. Anchors in decent condition and water hazards are either easily avoided or non-existent at this flow level (30ish cfs).

Comment: We had a great time exploring Mineral Creek on Saturday, August 9. The waterflow was moderate and we rappelled down canyon from the first hydraulic, stopping at a ledge and jumping the last several feet. The canyon itself is stunning with unique rock formations, bright blue water, and fun obstacles. We did some jumps, but many of the pools that appeared jumpable were too shallow. Make sure to check the depth before jumping. We found the existing anchors in good condition. After the Middle section, we hiked back to our cars and drove down to the Lower section in our wetsuits. Mineral Creek looks like a lot like the canyons I’ve explored in parts of the PNW, and was gorgeous.

Comment: At the current flows, the cauldron room is not an issue. You can touch the ground throughout and step over the strainers. Hydraulics are still in play on the rappels before the cauldron and could cause issues to those who do not know how to avoid them.

Comment: This was the strongest swift water canyon we did in Ouray, and definitely the one with the most jumps. Lots of water, hydraulics right and left, but all relatively safe because we run it with some local (Logan DG and friends). We did Upper and Lower sections of the canyon but walked along the road rather than streamwalk. We still had time to go run the Durango Waterpark too.

This is what Upper Uncompahgre should have been but never was (not even close!!!).
