Comments: A great day out in Tessy. No avalanche snow in the narrows this season, all anchors appear in good condition minus one traverse line bolt at R2 that had previous damage. This bolt while bent, still seems solid in the rock. Flow was low but pleasant and the sunny warm weather made for a great day out.

Comment: All anchors in great shape.

Lower flow than we hoped for, but still fun. More greenery than we'd ever experienced. Made for a gorgeous day, but also downclimbs were more slippery/spicy than usual.

Comment: Crossing the river on approach was a little pushy, made a tension diagonal to assist some of the team. Otherwise a straightforward day in low flow.

Comment: Time was significantly impacted by extra time taken to cross the river. This is my first time through the canyon and I don't have a reference point for staying on river right and avoiding the crossing, but we spent an extra hour finding a spot to cross both in/out of the canyon.

We started late and ended late, but there were no significant obstacles or difficulties in the canyon. Last rappel was by headlamp. It was quite warm in neoprene on the first two raps and felt very good to get into the water. All in all, it was a fun day in the canyon.

Comment: Fun day! Lower than we had expected given the snow pack. It was moderate-low for tessy… we were hoping for sporty. The canyon is slimier than usual, but it’s still a beautiful canyon! And the slot is just as great as always.

Comment: Sunny day after a week+ of rain. Canyon was flowing, but surprisingly not very high still. R3 was the highlight. All anchors are good (one of the two bolts at the R2 traverse line has taken a knock, but still functioning). Cold in the water & upper section, warmed up down below.

Comment: A great day in an awe inspiring canyon, even in very low flow. So low the creek entirely disappeared underground in multiple points leaving the canyon dry at the junction with the Taylor River.

The loose rock on R1/R2 is a serious issue, people should not wait around at the immediate bottom of the rap, instead keep moving down to R3. We had some near misses as the ropes were pulled.

I think some of the bolts *are* meant to be linked - e.g. R6 (if I remember correctly) which is on old moss covered rock, vertically aligned, with a smaller quicklink on the upper hanger, and a fullsized quicklink on the lower. See discussion regarding this layout in Mineral Creek[1]

We exited by crossing the Taylor River and picking up the trail on the other side - much quicker than our approach along the river south bank.

Will definitely be back when there's more water around!

Comment: Really dig this canyon - just beautiful. All bolts are in good shape. Someone linked a bunch of the bolt stations - don't do that, folks! We unlinked the ones we used that shouldn't have been linked. Lots of loose rock - we knocked a ton off the first rap, then some came in from the canyon rim lower down (maybe goats?). Watch that loose rock! There are still some ice spires after R3 - so cool! They were sublimating and putting off cold fog, which was trippy.

Comment: Hike up could use some flagging once you get away from the road to better define a trail. Drop into R4 involves two dry canyon Repels to get down. Very Pretty but froze with no sunlight due to North facing canyon. Anchors were well place and no issues with pulls. Water was higher than the trip the week before, used a couple handlines with our 2 newbies.

Comment: Entered below R3 due to big snow field in the box section. Will probably be a while before that melts out. ~6 hours car to car included some anchor work. Brief ice cold pools but most of the run is out of the water.

Comment: A spectacular canyon! The first three rappels are just incredible and feels like you are dropping into the bowels of the earth. 4" of rainfall over the past 72 hours (after an extended dry period) brought Tesseract into perfect condition for a fall run. All anchors are in great condition.

Comment: A great day out. Flows were perfect. June is prime time for Tesseract. Snow at the drop-in point, but none in the canyon itself. Updated many anchors and backed up single point anchors. The traverse line at the bottom of R1 is now redundant and makes the transition between R1 and R2 much more efficient. Long day, took our time and had a few issues, resulting in a late exit in the dark, but got out safe and sound.

Comment: What a stellar canyon! Excellent find, and thanks so much to those who bolted it. It's very well bolted. We did it with a 300ft rap line and a 200ft tag line. Probably could get away with just a 200ft rap line and 200 ft tag line, even on the first rap, especially if you just rapped off the first of the two bolts at the end of that rap. After that first rap, no need for anything over 200ft. Water was borderline warm in most parts. Felt fine even in the flow with just pants and a short sleeved shirt. On the way out, we just crossed the Taylor and bushwhacked a short ways to the Taylor River Trail. Highly recommend doing that at these low flows as opposed to bushwhacking on the left side of the Taylor from the bridge.
