Comments: Nice canyon. Could cut off ~1/2 the approach by skipping the top 50' and 100' rappels, but they're some of the better rappels in the canyon. There's good camping about a mile before the canyon off surprise canyon road.

Comment: We started out with a plan to do Joyride canyon, but opted to do sentinel based on how slow the beginning of the approach was. If you don't like steep loose stuff this might not be your jam. We made it up to 2480 at the start of the travers and dropped into a side canyon at the intersection of the approach and traverse, where we picked up sentinel canyon at the confluence. The views from the bottom of the canyon were nice, most of the upper section is a wide open walk.

Comment: Headed up to do Feral Ass, but decided to drop into Sentinel halfway up. According to GPS waypoints from Scott that meant we just missed two rappels but we only did 7 of the remaining 11. The start of the ascent was pretty steep and caused some challenges among our party but not an irregular approach for Death Valley.

Comment: Set out to do nearby Feral Ass Canyon, but decided to drop into Sentinel instead after hiking up. Approach hike has the usual DV scree and exposure.
We lapped raps 3-7 after realizing at rap 8 we'd lost some gear. FWIW there is a viable and easy exit from above rap 8 right out to the approach ridge.
