Comment: Fantastic run in Sedona thaw with light flow and snow flurries.

We originally planned for chopper drop, but changed to slingshot due to slick terrain pn the approach. Conditions in slingshot were fabulous. New anchors were stripped and replaced with blue accessory cord. If it wasn't cold and with a big group we would have replaced with neutral colored 1 inch webbing.

A great 1st annual Brandon Levander memorial run.

Comment: The canyon went off without a hitch - Made it back to the cars after dark, headlamps required - Kids did great, subtle encouragement over two of the ledges, but they all had a blast.

Comment: Excellent canyon even the second time around - Took just a bit more time with the 5 people over just 2 - Found more lost hikers upon exiting canyon.

Comment: Approach is incredibly popular, expect to pass many people - The approach feels very long, though only 2 miles - At the Cave, tun right and climb a rock shelf - well worn social trail all the way to the top, follow the rock face where necessary - all rappels are easy to find and easy to rig - can downclimb two of the rappels pretty easily to save time - 1 rappel is anchored near the ground, semi-hard to retrieve, but not Hang em High hard - Exit is easy as well, though we encountered lost hikers all three times we exited this canyon - The two of us came through this canyon in preparation of leading a larger group around the holidays.

After a rainstorm the night before we arrived at Boynton at 7 am the next morning. The parking lot was almost empty. It wasn't raining but was very saturated from the night before. We passed a group of 15 hikers with a guide and 2 photographers most likely headed to the subway cave.

We arrived at the entry downclimb to slingshot and it started to rain which seemed perfectly timed. TONS of fun and squirting falls on the route and exit.

Dave set up the rapps and lead the route. ALL anchors looked great.

A must try and safe option with runoff.

Comment: We got done with Boynton Island West and then headed over to Slingshot! We had extra time and ran through the island faster than anticipated. We've done Slingshot a few times but figured why not do it again?! The trail and subway area was busy as usual so we just headed straight up. All webbing was in good shape. Fun and quick route. It felt good to get two routes done in a day. That was a first for us. We were hustling and got a good workout in. Total time was from car to car and includes doing Boynton Island West and Slingshot. It was a good day!

Comment: Great option with run-off and melting snow. Went for manzanita but entry was iced up. Passing over slingshot it had running water so we decided to check it out instead. With a light flow sling shot was in superb condition. All anchors looked great. Every rappel was a small waterfall. This is a top Sedona pick in wet conditions.

Comment: Great first route in Sedona. Superb views from the top. Cold in the shade while walking in!

Easy hike to Subway. Found following the track/description from there a little confusing. Ended up hugging the wall below the Subway and following it WNW for a straight-forward ascent up to the saddle. Updated description & map, inc (possible?) climb the Subway balcony.

All anchors in good condition. Fiddle-sticked R2 & R3 for the practice.

1h15m from parking to Subway. 1h from Subway to top of descent (with some navigation faffing). 2h to bottom of R5 (at very mellow pace). 1h20m back to parking.

Comment: Approach time is a solid 1.5 hours.

Saw some tourist on the exit and helped get them to the Subway.

Anchors are good.

Comment: The best thing about this canyon? The views of Sedona. We had 7 people, including my 11 year old, all loved it. All anchors looked good, we needed exactly 200’ of rope to double rap R4, and almost all of us managed to make R5 completely awkward. Such a fun, stunning little canyon. The annoyances? Parking on a Saturday, the hoards of people in the Subway Cave, and getting buzzed by at least 12 tourist helicopters. We’ll be back. For sure.

Comment: Solid run through Paradise Cove and Slingshot. The Slingshot approach trail is getting really good. Hug the cliffs by the subway staying LUC the whole way. Just a trickle of water in the canyon. R2 webbing and tree was covered in ants, CEM'd off a neighboring tree instead. All other webbing was in good shape. Found a nice social trail LDC on the exit that avoids a bunch of downed trees. Be prepared for about a dozen people to ask you how to find the subway.

Comment: Very pretty canyon with nice views. All anchors are in good condition with recently replaced webbing. We stayed in the drainage on the approach and climbed up to the start using faint use trails along the center and left sides of the approach gully, which followed the GPS waypoints fairly well. We visited the Sedona Subway on the exit. The exit trail intersects with the Sedona Subway trail and it's a 0.2mi easy detour. It was nice to visit at the end as we could relax in the cool, breezy slot and spend plenty of time exploring and taking photos.
